PA210: Orange Peel with a Twist of Lime
Take your Orange Peel blocks to a new level with these easy die-cutting and machine applique techniques. Creating intricate curved blocks is no longer out of reach! You’ll leave class with the skills you need to finish this project plus get all your orange peels cut during class.

Supply List:
- In terms of color choices, for the main blocks you need a neutral background (white), a light (gold), a medium (green), and a dark (purple). You can also play with inverting the colors by using a dark and medium background, and two lights for the orange peels.
- Basic sewing supplies
- Sewing machine with a quarter inch foot
- Neutral piecing thread
- small scissors (fabric)
- thread snips
- seam ripper
- point turner
- pins
- rotary cutter
- rotary cutting mat
- 6″x 12″ ruler
- (5) gallon Ziploc or 9″x12″ clear plastic bags (recommended for storing your pre-work)
- Fabrics & Prework: (see guidance above for colors)
- Monofilament thread
- (6) 5″ x WOF strips from green fabric
- (6) 5″ x WOF strips from purple fabric
- (6) 9-1/2″ x WOF strips from lightweight fusible interfacing (like Pellon 820 Quilter’s Grid)
- From strips, cut (48) 4-1/2″ x 9-1/2″ rectangles
- (5) 7″ x WOF strips each from gold and white neutral fabric
- From strips, cut a total of (24) 7″ squares. Cut in half along one diagonal to yield (48) HSTs.
- Stitch one white and one gold HST together to form a square. Press seams open. Square up to 6-1/2″.
